Professional Development

Although there are myriad conferences, workshops and other professional opportunities available, MSPA’s policy is to post workshops and conferences of associations of school psychology with whom MSPA has a formal relationship, or workshops sponsored by the several training programs in Massachusetts.

Northeastern Workshops

Northeaster University’s Department of Counseling and APplied Educational Psychology along with Student Affiliates in School Psychology are presenting a very inexpensive workshop on Assessing Behavior Disorders. The workshop is offered May 14, 2010 on the Northeastern University campus. Click here for the flier.

Register for the MSPA Spring Conference

The MSPA Spring Conference registration is now open. The conference will be held May 21, 2010 at the Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. The presenter is Jim Wright. Jim Wright, M.S., is a certified school psychologist and special education administrator in central New York State. He is the creator of Intervention Central (www.interventioncentral.org), a popular website featuring free student intervention ideas. Jim currently works full-time as a trainer and consultant to schools and organizations on issues relating to Response to Intervention. He trains throughout New York and nationally on RTI topics, including curriculum-base measurement, team-based problem solving, and academic and behavioral interventions. Most recently, Jim has published ‘The RTI Toolkit: A Practical Guide for Schools’ [book] and The Power of RTI: Classroom Management Strategies K-6 [DVD]. To register for the conference click on the Conference Banner to the right.

Conference Cape Cod Chapter: Mathematics

John Hintze will present on RTI in Mathematics April 30th at the Holiday Inn in Hyannis, MA.Dr. Hintze has trained practitioners in over 20 states and is a technical consultant in the evaluation of RTI assessment instruments. His research has focused on assessment approaches for formative evaluation and also for progress monitoring and decision -making within an RTI framework.
