February News from Our NASP Delegate
- February 11th, 2012
NASP continues to develop resources to support us in our day-to-day practice. I hope you find these new offerings to be of value. The latest issue of School Psychology Review is now available online. Read ‘A Statewide Scale Up of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support,’ as well as other articles on topics such as advancing intervention research in school psychology, teachers supporting teachers in urban schools, and bridging mental health and education in urban elementary schools.
I encourage you to review ‘Improving the Educational Outcomes for Children in Foster Care,’ from the January/February Communique. In the article, authors Christina Watson and Brenda Kabler outline what school psychologists can do to improve the school experiences and outcomes of foster youth in four areas: stability of educational placement, educational rights and opportunities, advocacy and cross-system liaisons, and quality of educational programming.
Be sure to visit NASP’s new Online Learning Center (OLC). From on-demand content to live webinars, the OLC offers learning that fits into your busy schedule. You’ll get documented NASP- and APA-approved CPD while hearing the latest research from professional experts in a format that is convenient and affordable. Plus, NASP members save up to 33% on purchases in the OLC! Engage in the NASP Member Exchange discussions in the new Communities. Recent conversations include easy curriculum-based measurement, processing, school psychology apps, and more.
You can also download the Communities Mobile app to view posts in an easy-to-read format on your smartphone or tablet. I look forward to writing to you next month with more news from NASP, and I hope to see you at the annual convention.
Sincerely, Bob Trant, MA Delegate
